I'm kind of surprised that no one has recommended Johnnie Walker Black yet. It might be a step down in quality from the Double Black, but it's arguably better bang for your buck. Bunnahabhain is an interesting, tasty beast. Don't be surprised that you didn't like it the first time. Their standard 12 Year Old the least smoky Islay by far.

Review: Johnnie Walker Double Black (kinda can't believe I'm doing this one) It's not a bad whiskey. The price difference between this and the regular black is pretty ridiculous. I actually like the black quite a bit. The double black is definitely younger, and only slightly smokier.
